This flycatcher was recorded in a Ghanaian forest survey. The 2009 paper uses the older genus Muscicapa, while a current species page lists it as Fraseria tessmanni.
One male collected at Goaso was described as larger than M. comitata, with lighter undertail coverts and underparts and a stouter bill.
The species account lists freshwater settings, secondary forest, and shrubland, and classifies it as an arboreal gleaner of invertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
