This antpitta occurs in the eastern Andes of central Peru. It inhabits humid montane forest and edges, with records around 1,800–3,000 m.
It has chestnut upperparts and rufous underparts, a dusky crown, a whitish belly patch, and a thick bluish bill.
It forages in the forest understory, apparently searching for insects and snails. The BirdForum account presents this diet as an inference.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
