The species lives in humid montane forest on the eastern Andean slope, with records in Colombia and Ecuador at about 800–1,350 m. Its populations are disjunct.
It is mostly olive green, with gray on the belly, vent, undertail coverts, and tail. The orbital skin is yellowish, and a black stripe runs down the center of the crown.
In the midstory of humid montane forest, it may remain still for long periods before launching at insects or hanging fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
