A small bat with paler fur underneath, it catches flying insects in the forests and woodlands of southeastern Australia and Tasmania.
Its fur is brown to grey-brown and paler underneath, with white projections (tragi) on the ears.
It catches flying insects. In winter it enters torpor, becoming inactive to conserve energy.
During winter 2017 at Imbota Nature Reserve, males roosted mainly in tall, living eucalypts.
Five of the six males in that study changed roosts every few days, sometimes returning to previously used sites.
The males tracked at Imbota used both brief and multiday torpor bouts and often aroused within an hour after sunset.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
