Kano's mole occurs in Taiwan. A revision describes broadleaf forest as its main habitat and records tunnels along mountain trails as well as mounds and surface tunnels in gardens, fields and lawns.
The revision recognizes three regional forms. Body size ranges from small to medium, fur from black to dark brownish gray, and the tail is short; the nose pad protrudes.
Broadleaf forest is described as the main habitat. Tunnels were recorded crossing a mountain trail and in forest, while gardens, fields, flowerbeds and lawns also had small mounds and surface tunnels.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
