The Laysan Duck is a small duck that hides under vegetation by day and forages around a salt lake at night. Its native range is Laysan Island, with translocated populations on other atolls.
Adults are dark brown overall, with a prominent white eye-ring and varying amounts of white on the head and neck. The sexes look similar.
It forages at night around and in a hypersaline lake, eating brine flies, moth larvae, and brine shrimp. By day it takes cover under vegetation.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
