This furnariid was studied in montane mixed forest in southern Brazil. A 2003–2004 study observed a tendency to forage alone along shrub branches.
The upperparts are dull brown with fine whitish streaks, and the crest is less pronounced than in the related Leptasthenura setaria.
During focal-animal observations from November 2003 to August 2004, Leptasthenura striolata tended to forage alone on green shrub branches, including those of Baccharis.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
