The Amazon Kingfisher has a green head and back and a long bill. It dives from a waterside perch to catch fish.
Its head and back are olive green. Males have white underparts and a broad chestnut breast band, while females have green patches on the sides of the breast.
It perches near the water and dives when it spots a fish. After catching one, it returns to the perch and beats the fish before swallowing it.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
