This bat is recorded from Mexico south to Honduras. It uses lowland tropical dry forest and roosts in hot caves.
Fur on the back and head ranges from dark brown to bright orange; the tips of the underside hairs are gray-white.
The HMW account places it in lowland tropical dry forest and reports roosts in hot caves above 30°C. It feeds mainly on insects.
