Davy's naked-backed bat is a small bat whose wing membranes attach along the middle of its back. It catches moths over water and can drink while flying.
The wings attach along the midback and cover the dorsal fur, creating the naked-backed appearance. Dorsal fur ranges from clove to tawny brown, while the underside is cinnamon brown; some individuals are bright ochraceous orange.
Moths make up most of its diet, with flies and earwigs also reported. It forages over water and has been observed drinking on the wing.
