This kudu is documented by a Congo specimen and a sighting in Zakouma National Park, Chad. The Congo horn record is long and spiraled; in Zakouma, one encounter involved a male following a female with a calf in thick bush.
A 1943 account lists a horn length of 1.334 m for a Congo specimen of the cottoni form. It describes the horns of greater kudu, including this form, as long and spiraled. The measurement is a record for one specimen.
A visitor report from Zakouma National Park in 2022 records one sighting in thick bush: a male followed a female with a calf while a subadult male watched. This is one reported encounter, not evidence for a species-wide group pattern.
