Allactaga euphratica is a hopping rodent of Asia Minor and the Middle East. Its large hind feet and long tail support bounding; it has a sandy to reddish-brown back, a white underside, and lives in burrows while feeding on plants.
The hind feet are much larger than the forefeet, and the tail ends in a black-and-white tuft. The back may be sandy or reddish-black depending on soil color; the underside and hip stripe are white.
It burrows in rocky foothills and valleys with plant cover. In a Turkish study, stomachs from 17 September specimens contained leaves, roots, stems and seeds; none of 18 examined burrows held stored food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
