This ground finch occurs only on Genovesa Island in the Galápagos. It was formerly treated as a subspecies of the Sharp-beaked Ground Finch but is now listed as a separate species.
It has a sharp, slender bill with nearly straight edges. The breeding male's bill is black; the female and nonbreeding male have a dull orange bill.
It is common and easy to see in arid scrub near the coast, according to the eBird/Merlin account.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
