Pesquet’s Parrot has a mostly bare face, dark upperparts, and red lower belly and underwings. Adult males have a red mark behind the eye.
The face is gray-black and sparsely feathered. The breast and upper belly are brown-black, while the lower belly and underwings have red feathers. Males have a red mark behind the eye; females do not.
It feeds mainly on soft fig pulp and also takes flowers and nectar.
It is encountered in pairs or groups near the canopy. One account records birds roosting in a single tree at dusk.
Juveniles resemble adults, but their red plumage is generally duller.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
