Myophonus glaucinus is now called the Javan Whistling Thrush. A 2004 species-limits study describes glossy dark blue on the male’s head and upperparts, and reports birds mostly on the ground and ridges at Gunung Gede, Java.
In the 2004 comparison table, male M. glaucinus has glossy dark blue on the head, back and shoulder, with blue gloss on the belly. This describes the Java taxon separated within the former Sunda Whistling Thrush complex.
Observations at Gunung Gede, Java, describe it mostly on the ground and often on ridges, with less dependence on water than the other taxa in that study.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
