The southern woolly lemur is nocturnal. Researchers studied its leaf-eating behavior in the lowland rainforest of Tsitongambarika in southeastern Madagascar. During the season with more young leaves, feeding time and daily travel distance increased.
In the nominal population described from Sainte Luce, the back is gray-brown with paler hair tips, the underside is gray, and the tail is reddish brown, darkening toward its tip.
Its feeding changes with seasonal leaf availability. In the Tsitongambarika study, feeding time and daily travel distance increased when young leaves were plentiful.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
