This African bee-eater lives in forests and at forest edges. It can look black from a distance, but red and blue stand out in good light.
It has a bright red throat and electric-blue areas on the belly, undertail, and chest.
It uses forest edges and riverine woodland, catching flying invertebrates in the air.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
