The African Pygmy Goose is a perching duck despite its name. A male has a white face, green markings, and a bright yellow bill.
The male has a white face, green patches behind the eyes, a metallic green back, and a yellow bill. The female is grayish, with dark patches around the eyes.
It uses shallow lakes, marshes, inland deltas, and slow-moving rivers, and mainly eats seeds of aquatic plants. It often nests in tree cavities and may move in response to food and water availability.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
