The big-eared free-tailed bat has oversized ears that nearly meet in a V on the forehead and is recorded in woodland savanna with day-roost sites.
It has no nose leaf. The very large inner margins of its ears meet or nearly meet above the forehead to form a V-shaped valley, and the tail tip projects beyond the rear edge of the interfemoral membrane.
Its described habitat is woodland savanna with suitable day-roost sites. In Kenya, specimens were taken on open thorn scrub with scattered rocky hills.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
