Steinbach's Canastero is a small bird of dry mountains in western Argentina. It is seen alone or in pairs among scrub and ravines.
Its plumage is greyish overall, with a grey-brown face and a pale eyebrow. The crown and back are also greyish-brown.
It lives in dry montane scrub and is often found in ravines. The account says it forages on the ground or in low vegetation, but little is recorded about its food, so a specific diet is not stated.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
