A canastero found in Chile. The nominate subspecies has a brown back and pale eyebrow; a central Chile study recorded nesting in thorny scrub and cactus areas.
In the nominate subspecies, the head and back are brown with an olive tinge. It has a pale eyebrow, a whitish throat with small black marks, finely streaked grey-brown breast and belly, and a dark tail.
At the central Chile study site, it used arid to semiarid thorny scrub and cactus patches, and built a basket-shaped nest from thorny twigs.
