This medium-sized tuco-tuco occurs in northern Argentina. It has a dark dorsal band, and the account links its likely habitat to sandy-soil patches affected by flooding.
A black band runs from the muzzle between the eyes, widens over the crown, then narrows and continues along the back onto the tail. The back is brown, the flanks yellowish brown, and the underside pale grayish brown.
The account suggests that the species may be restricted to small sandy-soil patches separated by floods, with populations expanding or contracting as water levels change.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
