The Verdin is a tiny bird with a yellow head and grey body. It lives mainly among thorny shrubs in deserts of the southwestern United States and Mexico.
Adults have an ash-grey back, pale underside, yellow head, dark lores, and a maroon shoulder patch. Males are brighter overall; juveniles are mostly plain grey.
During breeding, males begin a display nest to attract a female. The pair finishes a domed nest made with thorny twigs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
