Known from a small mountain area in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Itombwe Owl remains poorly known.
It is about 23-29 cm long, with chestnut upperparts, black-and-white spots on the crown and nape, and reddish-cream underparts.
It is associated with montane gallery forest and the grassy, bushy slopes above it. It is apparently nocturnal, but its behavior is poorly documented.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
