The Rusty Pitohui feeds on insects and fruit in forests around New Guinea. Its white eye and rufous tail help identify it.
Adults have brown, rufous-tinged head and upperparts, a rufous tail, and light rusty-buff underparts with a paler throat. The eye is white, and the sexes look alike.
It inhabits rainforest and other forest types on New Guinea, Aru Island, and nearby West Papuan islands. It eats insects and fruit, and sometimes forages in mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
