This small bird lives in dry scrub across the African population represented by the candidate. It fans its tail and searches for insects near the ground.
It has brown upperparts, pale underparts and a white stripe over the eye. When raised or fanned, its long rufous tail shows black-and-white tips.
It uses dry open country with bushes and shrubs, catching mostly ground insects. It nests in a bush; the complex account gives three to five eggs per clutch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
