The Makatea Fruit Dove is confined to Makatea in French Polynesia, where it uses wooded areas and trees near villages.
Most of the body is green, with a purple forehead and crown. The throat and chest are pale greenish gray; the yellow underside becomes orange toward the front, and the wing edges are yellow.
It is thought to feed on fruits from a variety of trees. It occurs in dense forest in the south of the island as well as among trees near villages.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
