The least weasel is a small, slender mustelid with a short tail. The Missouri account describes it as probably present in the state’s northern counties.
It has a long, slender body with short legs and a short tail. The Missouri account says its summer coat is brown above and white below; winter coats in southern Missouri are usually brown.
It hunts among low cover in pastures, stubble fields and marshes, feeding mainly on mice and other small rodents. It may store extra food in a burrow.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
