This resident robin ranges from western to northern New Guinea. It lives in lowland and foothill forest undergrowth and searches for invertebrates by day.
It is about 14–15 cm long. The crown and sides of the head are black, a long white eyebrow runs above the eye, and the upperparts are dark grey.
It is sedentary and forages in forest undergrowth or close to the ground. It feeds on insects and other invertebrates, sometimes making short sallies to catch prey in flight.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
