The Violet Crow (Corvus violaceus) is a crow of forests, forest edges, and plantations in the southern Moluccas. The pool provides no Japanese common name, so its scientific name is retained as the Japanese display name.
It is blackish overall with a short tail. A subtle purple sheen may appear on the feathers under certain light; juveniles lack this gloss.
It forages in the canopy alone, in pairs, or in small groups. The account describes a nasal, trumpet-like call and higher-pitched crow-like sounds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
