The long tail is partly enclosed by a narrow membrane between the hind legs. The paper also describes a small triangular nose-leaf at the tip of the snout and nostrils with closable valves.
Colonies are reported from steppe and desert regions. A January 2015 record in Béchar, southwestern Algeria, found about 50 individuals in a cave; the paper also describes the species in a sun-exposed rock cleft.
