This small mouse is recorded in the Andes of Colombia and Venezuela, in cloud forest at 1,830–2,700 m. Captures include moss-covered fallen wood and tree roots.
The upper surface of the hind foot is conspicuously scaly, with dark scales edged in a paler color and short, sparse hairs.
In Venezuelan cloud forests it has been captured at the base of rotting, moss-covered trees, under logs, fallen branches and moss- or lichen-covered roots, and in dense tangles of vines and bamboo.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
