The Pied Butcherbird is an Australian bird with black-and-white plumage and a hooked bill. It swoops from a perch to catch prey on the ground.
Adults have a black hood and throat, a white collar, a mostly black back, and white on the wings and rump. The bill is long and hooked. The sexes have the same plumage, males are slightly larger, and juveniles are browner than adults.
It catches small reptiles, mammals, frogs, birds, and insects, mostly on the ground. It swoops from an exposed perch and may hunt alone, in pairs, or in groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
