This small antpitta lives in lowland forest in northern Bolivia. Its gray head contrasts with a white underside marked by dark streaks, and it uses forest understories tangled with old vines.
The crown and nape are gray, contrasting with brown ear-coverts. The white throat and breast have conspicuous black streaks, and the flanks are ochre.
Along the Beni and Madre de Dios rivers, it uses the understory of lowland floodplain forest with dense old vine tangles. A study found nests in semi-open forest near forest edges at its study sites.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
