This bulbul was described in field notes for the Upper Guinea forest zone. It has olive-brown upperparts, sulfur-yellow underparts and a rufous tail, and may be seen near columns of ants.
The head and upperparts are olive-brown; the underparts are sulfur-yellow, especially bright on the throat. The tail is bright rufous, and bare blue skin lies in front of, above and behind the eye.
The Upper Guinea account says it is often found at ant columns, which can provide a good chance to see the bird.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
