The steenbok is a small antelope. In SANParks’ Marakele National Park account, it feeds on grasses, browse and fruits.
It has a reddish-brown back, pale underside and large ears. Only males grow horns.
It eats grasses, browse, seedpods and fruits, and may dig up roots and bulbs with its front hooves. It rests in cover during the heat of the day and feeds in the morning and late afternoon.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
