The Bronze-winged Duck has a chocolate-brown head and neck, a white throat and facial patch, and a violet wing marking. The Argentine SIB lists the Andean-Patagonian region and Chile as its range.
The head and neck are chocolate brown, with white on the throat and face. The wing mirror is violet with a white border, and the legs are orange.
It occurs on rivers, lakes, and lagoons in forested areas and on steppe rivers. It swims in shallow water and rests on banks and rocks; its diet is presumed to be plants. It is usually seen in pairs, with small groups possible in winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
