This tyrant flycatcher visits the high Andes as an austral migrant. It has gray upperparts and whitish underparts, and is recorded at 4,000–4,700 m among rocky, shrubby grasslands.
It is about 15.5 cm long. The upperparts are gray and the underparts whitish, with no rufous crown patch. The white eyebrow is reduced to pale lores that reach the eye.
It forages among shrubs and rocks, and in grassland with scattered shrubs. It is an austral migrant, so season matters when identifying ground-tyrants without a rufous crown patch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
