This cottontail is known from mountain country in southern Mexico. Only three specimens have been collected, so information about its appearance and habits remains limited.
It has long ears and a short tail. Its back is gray-black mixed with reddish brown, its underside is white, and the outer ears are dark brown. The account is based on only three specimens.
The account describes it hiding in undergrowth in damp pine or pine-oak forest and digging under rocks. Species-specific natural-history information is limited by the small specimen record.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
