The original description reports a gray-brown back with white chin and feet. A Kenyan study confirmed the species at Marigat, in a semi-arid area.
Thomas described the back as slaty gray mixed with brown, the belly as gray, and the chin, ears, hands, and feet as white. The slender tail was pale brown above and white below.
A 2023 Kenyan survey confirmed captured shrews as this species using genetic identification. Most were caught outdoors near fences and farms in Marigat; one was caught indoors.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
