The panther genet is a slender genet with a long ringed tail. The strength of its spots varies with habitat.
Its coat ranges from pale yellow-gray to brown, with large rusty-brown to black spots and a ringed tail. The spots tend to be less distinct in dry country and clearer in wetter habitats.
It is active at night and eats rodents, insects, and other small animals as well as fruits and seeds. It uses forests, riverside vegetation, woodland, and savanna mosaics.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
