The yellow ground squirrel is a ground-dwelling squirrel that digs burrows in dry parts of Central Asia.
Its back is pale yellow-brown, its underside is lighter, and its tail has alternating light and dark bands.
It searches for food above ground during the day and uses burrows dug underground.
