About 12 cm long, this small flycatcher has a gray head, white throat, orange-brown breast, and yellow belly. It hunts insects in dense forest undergrowth.
The head is gray, with white around the eyes and on the throat. The upperparts are olive green, the dusky wings have two ochre bars, and the orange breast grades into a bright yellow belly. The sexes are similar.
It catches insects, especially beetles and ants, from the underside of foliage while in flight. The female nests in a natural cavity or an old woodpecker hole in a tree or bamboo; she lays and incubates two eggs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
