This tiny tyrant flycatcher inhabits dry lowlands from Central America into northern South America. Its pale eye and yellow wing-bars help identify it.
The upperparts are olive, with two yellow wing-bars. The underside is pale with diffuse brown streaks; the iris is whitish and the legs pale pink.
It occurs in dry scrub, open woodland, small urban forest patches, and crop edges. It moves alone or in pairs and eats insects. A study of the Venezuelan subspecies found insects to be the main food and also recorded fruit.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
