The Sumatran Treepie lives in forests on Sumatra. A white nape and long tail make it distinctive, and it is usually seen in pairs or family groups.
The forehead, face and throat are dark liver-brown. The upper nape is white and the lower nape pale grey. The upperparts are tawny, the rump pale grey, and the central tail feathers are silvery grey.
It uses moist lowland forest and montane forest, and also tolerates secondary forest. It is usually seen in pairs or family groups.
