The Red-crowned Amazon is a green parrot with a striking red forehead. It can be seen flying to and from roosts in the morning and evening.
It has a green body, a red forehead and a blue stripe running from behind the eye down the side of the neck. Females and young birds have less red on the crown.
It flies with shallow wingbeats between roosting areas in the morning and evening. When moving along branches, it uses its bill to help grip them.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
