The Yellow-bellied Siskin is a small finch whose male has a black head, yellow belly, and yellow wing patch. It lives near forests and forest edges from Central America into the Andes.
The male has a black head and throat, yellow belly, and yellow wing patches. The female is duller yellowish green but keeps yellow on the wings.
It feeds mainly on seeds, with small insects as a supplement. It uses humid montane forest, edges, clearings, and nearby shrubby or coffee-growing areas, and may be seen in pairs in the canopy.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
