The Frilled Coquette is a small hummingbird found in Brazil. At one reserve in Santa Catarina, one adult male was repeatedly recorded visiting a garden feeder and flying into nearby riparian forest.
In Gould’s historical description, the adult male has a deep chestnut head and crest, a green forehead, face and throat, and white side-neck plumes crossed by a shining green band. The female lacks these conspicuous male ornaments.
Near Águas do Brilhante Reserve, a male was recorded visiting a garden feeder and sometimes flying into nearby riparian forest. The surrounding Atlantic Forest ranged from secondary to older forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
