The Lowland Long-nosed Squirrel is a ground-dwelling squirrel from Sulawesi. Records are separated between the north and central part of the island, and it may occur more widely than the known records suggest.
The genus Hyosciurus, which includes this species, is distinguished by an extremely long snout.
It is terrestrial. The paper suggests that the long snout may be linked to specialization on invertebrates, but presents this as a possibility rather than an established diet.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
