This large pigeon is resident on islands off western New Guinea in Indonesia. It has a pale gray head and breast, iridescent blue-green upperparts, and one mainland record is considered a vagrant.
The head, neck, and breast are pale gray; a creamy-white band crosses the base of the black bill, and the mantle, rump, and wing-coverts have an emerald sheen.
It occurs in primary, secondary, and logged forest, as well as mangroves. Reports from fruiting trees are noted, but its fruit-based diet is an inference in the source.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
